Dr. Amber Harris is a school psychologist, educator, and national leader in the field with more than 15 years of full-time applied practice prior to transitioning into academia. Her professional experience spans direct service delivery, consultation, systems-level problem solving, and leadership across school and community settings, grounding her work in practical, real-world application. She currently serves as the Treasurer of the National Association of School Psychologists (NASP) and previously represented Louisiana as the NASP State Delegate. At the state level, she has provided extensive service to the Louisiana School Psychological Association (LSPA), serving as president in 2016, as well as several additional roles within LSPA, contributing to professional advocacy, training, and organizational leadership. Dr. Harris earned her Ph.D. in School Psychology from Texas Tech University. As a faculty member of the ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ School Psychology Program, she is committed to preparing future school psychologists and mental health professionals through practice-informed teaching, ethical leadership, and neurodiversity-affirming approaches.
Dr. Harris's research interests involve supporting neurodiverse students in the educational setting and post-secondary transitions, AI in school psychology, implementation of the NASP Practice Model, and barriers to implementation of the full NASP Practice Model.
